The San Diego Writers and Editors Guild is a group of writers and editors who are dedicated to learning, sharing, and meeting with others on their writing journey. We know becoming a successful writer requires time, effort, study, practice, patience, dedication, determination, talent and perseverance. Our goal is to help you achieve your goals by providing help and support not only in the craft of writing but in the business side as well.

Included in your annual membership fee are the following benefits:
- Subscription to The Writer’s Life, the Guild’s monthly newsletter
- Opportunity to submit writings for publication in The Guilded Pen, the Guild’s annual anthology
- Monthly Guild meetings, featuring speakers on topics relevant to writers and editors
- Monthly marketing support meetings, featuring substantive information on some aspect of marketing your writing followed by group discussion
- Annual Membership Directory, including information about fellow writers/editors who offer services to other members
- Networking with fellow writers and editors in the community
- Reduced fees for Guild-sponsored workshops (usually held quarterly)
- Opportunity to present at the annual Open Mic Night (limited slots available)
- Opportunity to participate in the annual First Page Slam event where experts critique the first page of your work in progress
- Opportunity to participate in the Manuscript Review Program where members may submit up to 30 pages of a novel, short fiction or memoir for evaluation/critique by the Guild’s Recommendation Committee. An SDWEG rating is assigned which can be used when contacting agents, editors, and publishers. (nominal fee is charged)
- Opportunity to display/sell your own work at all Guild-sponsored live meetings
- Opportunity to have a listing on the Members’ Works page highlighting your published works
- Access to the Guild’s Members Only website resources, including discussion forums, videos of prior meetings, prior editions of The Writer’s Life, and more
- Opportunity to have speaking, book signing, and other publicity events listed on the Guild’s Calendar
